Unoma Aguolu
CDT Aguolu is a fourth year Global Studies: Global Public Health major with a minor in Health and Wellbeing. She was born in Cleveland Ohio and grew up in King George, VA. She is a member of the women's club basketball team, and her hobbies consist of listening to music, reading, journaling, scrapbooking, and playing cards. Upon graduation, she hopes to commission as a Medical Service Corps Officer.
Tahmid Bhuiyan
CDT Bhuiyan is a 4th year Computer Science major in the School of Engineering & Applied Science. He was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and shortly after immigrated to the United States, now residing in Woodbridge, Virginia. In his free time he likes to develop games and restore vintage computers. Upon graduating he will be commissioned as a National Guard officer.
Jordan Bonardi
Cadet Bonardi was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and a graduate of Gilman School. He is one of our battalion’s assistant supply officers. He is a History major and African-American Studies minor and will commission as a United States Army Reserve officer in the spring.
Ethan Coleman
Ethan Coleman was born in Walkersville, MD. He graduated from Walkersville High School in 2020. Coleman began college at the University of Virginia in the fall of 2020 where he began studying Chemical Engineering and joined ROTC. In the fall of 2021, Coleman became a resident advisor, where he is currently serving for a third year. He also enjoys playing intramural soccer, basketball, and volleyball. He also enjoys running, studying geography, and reading about various topics. After graduation, Coleman plans to branch into Aviation or Engineers as a member of the U.S. Army (Active Duty).
Thomas Driscoll
Cadet Thomas Driscoll is a second year Master of Public Policy (MPP) candidate at the Batten School. He graduated with distinction from the College in May 2022, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History and Foreign Affairs. During his time as an undergraduate, Cadet Driscoll served as a resident advisor, editor for The Cavalier Daily, Vice Chair of the University Board of Elections, and a member of the University Guide Service. He also interned at the U.Va. Center for Politics, the Miller Center of Public Affairs, the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, and the Office of U.S. Senator Mark Warner. Cadet Driscoll currently serves as the Cavalier Battalion’s S1. He previously served as a/S1, team leader, and squad leader (twice). Outside of AROTC, Cadet Driscoll continues to be heavily involved in the University community, serving as an elected representative to both the University Judiciary Committee and Batten Graduate Council. He is a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Batten School for LPPS 3280: Lessons in Leadership, JFK and the Most Personal Office — an undergraduate course that analyzes public policy through the lens of John F. Kennedy’s presidency. Cadet Driscoll also lives on the Range — a part of Thomas Jefferson’s Academical Village — and was elected to serve as the community’s president for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Lucas Fredbeck
CDT Lucas Fredbeck is a 4th year from Pelham, NY. He is a History major with a Politics minor, and especially enjoys American history. CDT Fredbeck currently serves as the AS3 of Lab, in addition to being Ranger Challenge Captain. Outside of ROTC, CDT Fredbeck leads a bible study in Chi Alpha Christian fellowship, is a member of Phi Society Fraternity, and a part of the UVA Outdoors club. In his free time, CDT Fredbeck likes skiing, mountain biking and fishing. Upon commissioning, CDT Fredbeck hopes to serve as an Active Duty Infantry officer.
Micah High
CDT Micah High is a 4th year at UVA. In ROTC he is involved with Ranger Challenge, the Army 10 miler Team, and Color Guard. Outside of Army stuff, he is involved with his fraternity, Chi Psi, where he was the pursuit facilitator and Standards Chair. CDT High also a member of club run, and enjoy training Muay Thai.
Anna Lee
Cadet Anna Lee is a 4th year at McIntire studying Marketing and IT. She was born in Houston, TX, and has three siblings. She stays involved in ROTC through the Army 10-miler team, Ranger Challenge, Color Guard, running the Instagram and being a Mosby’s SGT her 3rd year. She enjoys team sports and is a 5x IM Champion. She has been the UVA Women’s Volleyball Manager, Wahoops Graphic Designer, UJC Council Member, part of GCF and XA, and Barbell Club. She hates saying no and strives to live life to its fullest.
Jared Lepson
CDT Jared Lepson is an Economics major from Suffolk, Virginia. He is serving as Cadet Association President within ROTC. Outside of ROTC he is a Bible Study leader with RUF and is a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He is currently studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. He hopes to become an Active Duty Infantry Officer in upon graduation.
Caleb Macey
CDT Macey is a student at the University of Virginia double majoring in Public Policy and Leadership at the Frank Batten School as well as Global Security and Justice in the College of Arts and Sciences. Through ROTC, CDT Macey is also a two-time scholarship recipient of Project GO - East Africa Field School, through which he traveled to Kenya in order to study Swahili as well as the social, political, and environmental factors influencing life in East Africa. He now serves as the c/S2, where he analyzes military developments around the world and their impact on the US. CDT Macey aspires to join the US Army Infantry.
Brendan Okeson
CDT Brendan Okeson is a 4th Year Media Studies Major. He was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and he graduated from Riverside Military Academy. Within ROTC, CDT Okeson has done Color Guard for 3 years. Outside of ROTC, he has worked at Memorial Gymnasium as a supervisor for 2 years and has been a part of the UVA Men's Club Water Polo Team for 2 years. Post ROTC, he plans on commissioning as an Active Duty Military Intelligence Officer with a branch detail for Armor.
Abigail Opoku
CDT Abigail Opoku is a fourth-year biology major on the pre-pharmacy track. Alongside her commitment to Army ROTC, she stays engaged in on-ground clubs like Yahweh Night Ministries, PENSA, and WOCHA/MOCHA. When she is not busy with those, you'll find her volunteering at the hospital and mentoring elementary school students in Albemarle County. An interesting tidbit about CDT Opoku: "I love drinking sparkling water with every meal, especially when it's spicy to kick up the heat!"
Joseph Ortega
CDT Joseph Ortega is a 4th year studying Finance and IT. He was born and raised in Fredericksburg, VA. In addition to ROTC, CDT Ortega is also an SMP Cadet in the Army Reserves, where he drills with the 310th Engineer Company at Fort Walker, VA. Currently he serves as head of the Battalion S3 shop, otherwise known as the CavBat Shadow Government. In his free time he enjoys hiking, playing pickle ball, and spending time with the brothers in his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. Upon graduating, CDT Ortega plans to commission as an Ordnance Officer into the US Army Reserves.
Henry Pryor
CDT Henry Pryor is from Long Beach, California. He is double majoring in Government and Environmental Thought and Practice. CDT Pryor hopes to receive an Educational Delay to attend law school and serve in the Army as a Judge Advocate.
Maria Sobiesk
CDT Maria Sobiesk is a Nursing Major from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Within her five years of ROTC, CDT Sobiesk has been involved with Ranger Challenge, the Army 10-miler team, served as a Mosby’s Sergeant, and was a class representative for Cadet Association for 4 years. She currently serves as the Cadet Representative for the U.S. Tri-Service Nursing Research Program. Within the UVA community, CDT Sobiesk is a Vice Chair for Housing and Residence Life, UJC Representative, and is involved with XA Christian Fellowship. Outside of ROTC, CDT Sobiesk works as a Crisis Counselor, enjoys hiking, running, and teaching yoga. Following graduation in May 2024 CDT Sobiesk will commission Active Duty into the Army Nurse Corps. She hopes to specialize in intensive care nursing and eventually become an Army CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist)
Alex Williams
Cadet Alexander Williams is a Foreign Affairs major, with a minor in History. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading about history, and hanging out with friends. Within ROTC, he has been on the Ranger Challenge team, and served as the Captain of the Color Guard team. He hopes to branch Military Intelligence, branch detail Field Artillery.
Connor Wilson
CDT Connor Wilson is a Computer Science major from Ruckersville, VA and a focus in Cybersecurity. CDT Wilson currently serves as S6 and AOIC of the Ranger Challenge team. Outside of ROTC CDT Wilson is a member of the UVA Computer and Network Security club and is a Younglife Leader at the Covenant School in Charlottesville. In his free time, CDT Wilson enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, hiking, or snowboarding. CDT Wilson hopes to branch into the US Army Cyber Corps.
