Tristan Arendt
CDT Arendt is a 4th year Engineering Science student studying Civil Engineering and Computer Science. CDT Arendt is from Kingston, MA. He enjoys running, hiking, fishing, and making fun of CDT Parrish. Following graduation CDT Arendt will commission as an active duty Engineer Officer.
Lucas Bires
My name is Lucas Bires and I am a 4th year here at the University of Virginia. I am pursuing a B.A. in Computer Science and will be commissioning in May as an officer in the Cyber branch. Within the Army ROTC program, I served the roles of AS3-PT, Platoon Sergeant, and last semester the Executive Officer. This semester I will be the AS4 and aiding in logistics and supplies. Outside of ROTC, I am involved in my fraternity, Alpha Sigma Phi, where I was the Sergeant of Arms for 2 years. I also served as the treasurer for the UVA club baseball team for 2 years as well. I am extremely excited to help develop and mentor the very talented cadets of the Cavalier Battalion in my final semester.
Kendric Huff
I served 4 years in the Marine Corps, became a Special Operations Capabilities Specialist- Communications (SOCS-C). Earned a veteran a scholarship to come to UVA. I play club rugby and I’m a member of the French Club. Previously AS3 for PT and Rucks, currently “Best One S1” in charge of administrative work with the cadet/cadre network.

Emily Kasky
CDT Emily Kasky is a Russian and Medical Anthropology double major from Springfield, Virginia. Within the program, she is involved with the Ranger Challenge team, the Army 10-Miler team, and is the president of the Cadet Association. She volunteers with VISAS and plays multiple IM sports. In her free time, she enjoys photography and hiking.
Following graduation in May 2023, she will be commissioned as an Active Duty Quartermaster Officer.
Jack Leipertz
Cadet Jack Leipertz is a Chemistry and Spanish double major and a member of Chi Alpha Christian fellowship. Within ROTC Cadet Leipertz was a Mosby’s Sergeant and has been on the Ranger Challenge team for all four years of college. In his free time, Cadet Leipertz enjoys playing and writing music and mountain biking. Cadet Leipertz will be commissioning into Aviation and plans to attend seminary and earn a masters degree in divinity and Christian studies alongside flight school.

Alexander Mosher
Cadet Mosher is a native of Loudoun County VA and graduate of Briar Woods High School. He is our battalion’s current cadet executive officer and our previous supply officer. He is an East Asian Studies major with a Chinese focus and will commission as an Air Defense Artillery officer in the spring.
Christopher Nguyen
CDT Nguyen is an upcoming graduate of the University of Virginia’s Cavalier Battalion where he majored in Biochemistry and minored in Physics.
Born and raised in Reston, Virginia, CDT Nguyen comes from a military family, where his father served in the Army for 15 years and his older brother currently serves as a 2LT in the Maryland National Guard. After learning about the Army’s mission of selfless service and global humanitarianism, CDT Nguyen was inspired to follow in his family’s legacy by joining the Army. CDT Nguyen is interested in serving as an Army Field Trauma Surgeon (62B), providing life-saving primary care amongst Soldiers stationed in the most forward military operations. After attending the Army Medical Department Internship Program (AMEDIP) in the Summer of 2022 at Vicenza, Italy CDT Nguyen also hopes to attend Airborne School in the future.
Throughout his undergraduate career, CDT Nguyen can be found participating in a range of activities across the college: from volunteering at the UVA Medical Center through Madison House to engineering novel fluorescent biosensors at the Ai Lab. CDT Nguyen even represented the 2021 UVA iGEM Synthetic Biology Team as one of the lead biomedical engineers, where his team competed at the 2021 International iGEM Jamboree to win a silver medal for UVA. In his free time, CDT Nguyen enjoys learning instruments such as the piano and ukulele, as well as reading up on current psychology research.
William Parrish
CDT William Parrish is a 4th year Commerce major in the McIntire School of Commerce. Born and raised in Reston, Virginia, CDT Parrish appreciates the outdoors and traveling abroad.
Following graduation in May 2022, CDT Parrish will commission as an Active Duty Cyber Officer.
Joseph Reinkober
Hello! I’m Joseph Reinkober, better known as the classic Army name, Joe, and I am from Newport News, Virginia. I am a 4th Year student at UVA and an economics/foreign affairs double major. My classmate Christopher Nguyen once said, “Reinkober, what else do you do besides lifting and running?” While I do enjoy both of these activities, and do them quite well if I may add, I’m in fact a multi-dimensional Cadet! I love nature and going hiking as well as fostering dogs from the SPCA. I also am a huge history and movie nerd, my favorite film being the Godfather. I am the Cavalier Battalion c/S2, which basically means I get to see all my classmates bright and early on Friday mornings and give them a brief on foreign affairs (dream job). I am commissioning as an Armor Officer in May, which means I get to drive tanks for a living (also dream job). I’m looking forward to finishing my final semester at UVA and in RTC with a bang (obligatory tank pun)!
Hannah Shapiro
CDT Hannah Shapiro is a Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law and Economics double major. She is from Cape Coral, Florida. She is a College of Arts and Sciences Honor Committee Representative and member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
Following graduation in May 2023, CDT Shapiro will attend the University of Virginia School of Law before serving as an Active Duty Judge Advocate General.
Stephanie Skahen
CDT Stephanie Skahen is a Computer Science major from Springfield, Virginia. Within the program, she is a part of the Ranger Challenge team, the Colorguard team, and the Army 10-Miler team. She also plays on UVA’s Women's Club Ultimate Frisbee team.
Upon graduation, she will commission as an Engineer Officer.
Maria Sobiesk
CDT Maria Sobiesk is a Nursing Major with a minor in Psychology. She grew up in Wiesbaden Germany & Fredericksburg, VA.
She is a current Senior Resident of a first-year dorm, Research Assistant, and serves as a representative on the University Judiciary Council. She is a certified crisis counselor and enjoys volunteering for a mental health hotline
Her hobbies include figure skating, hiking, and running.
She hopes to specialize in intensive care and eventually become an Army CRNA (Nurse Anesthetist)
Jashan Warring
CDT Warring is a 4th year Foreign Affairs major. He was born in Fairfax, VA but grew up Punjab, India.
In his free time he likes to read about Roman history and go to museums.
Upon graduating he will be commissioned as a Reserve Corps officer.
Liam Welsh
Cadet Welsh is a fourth year Foreign Affairs major and History minor from Ashburn, Virginia. This past summer after completion of advanced camp he attended and graduated from the Sabalauski Air Assault School at Fort Campbell. Along with his involvement in ROTC, he is also enlisted in the 130th Chemical Company, an Army Reserve unit that he trains with at Fort A.P. Hill. He is a member of the Chess Club at UVA and enjoys lifting weights and watching movies in his free time.
